ATUSH
A town inhabited mainly by Kyrgyz, Uyghur and Han people. Modern development is encroaching upon the centre of the town, which is in the process of renovation, but the place is dotted with mosques. One detects the scent of Islam in the air, and feels that Kashgar is close.
